-(으)면서 has two meanings.
The first meaning is ‘during/while’ which two actions happen at the same time. For example,
I watch TV while I was eating.
I study while I am listen to music.
I eat a lot during cooking.

Do not look at your phone while you are driving. It is dangerous.
My wife talks while she is sleeping.
That person talked while he was crying.
The second meaning is ‘yet, though’ which two opposite actions happen at the same time. Often we add -도 after 으면서 to emphasize the comparison. For example,
Someone acts like he/she has money even though he/she doesn’t have money.
Do not say like you know everything, yet you don’t know anything.
Someone just eats although he/she doesn’t cook.
-(으)며 also has two meanings.
The first meaning is the same as -(으)면서 which is ‘while/during’ but a little formal. And the second meaning is the same as -고 which is ‘and’. For example,
Someone is working out while listening to music.
Someone sang songs while someone was drawing.
That person sang songs while he was playing piano.
Seoul is the capital of South Korea and the center for finance.
That person plays piano, plays guitar and sings songs very well.

What’s the difference between (으)면서/ (으)며 and (으)ㄴ 사이(에)?
으면서 and 으며 can be interchangeable if it is the same meaning which “do something at the “, however 으면 is a bit formal. 은 사이에 means “during the time”, for example, 제가 없는 사이에 제 친구가 오면 알려 주세요. Please let me know if my friend comes while(during the period of time) I am not here. 으면서 and 으면 also mean “while”, but they express two actions happen at the same time.
